Graveside services for Mr. Georges Venson Amonette, 86, of Marshall will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at Colonial Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Mr. Amonette passed away Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, in Marshall. Georges Venson Amonette was born Aug. 21, 1923, in Marshall to Roscoe Amonette and Lois Lillian Willis Amonette.

He graduated from Marshall High School with the Class of 1941. On Aug. 20, 1950, he married Mary Walsh. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was also in the National Guard and discharged as a Master Sergeant. Mr. Amonette worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 42 years as a line operator and retired in 1981. He was a valued life member of AT&T Pioneers and a past exhaulted ruler of the Elks Lodge of Marshall.

Surviving Mr. Amonette are two daughters and son-in-law, Mona Collins and her husband, Ron of Marshall and Kay Box of Longview; three grandchildren, Michael Collins and his wife, Jenna of Marshall, Scott Collins of Marshall and Jasper Box of Longview; and two great-grandchildren, Kara and Cayden Collins, both of Marshall.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lois Amonette, and his wife, Mary Amonette.
