Annie Bell Lewis "Madea," departed this life on Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at a local hospital. A native and lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama, she was born on June 25, 1924, to the union of Mr. and Mrs. Mack (Ethel) Woods.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Cleo Woods, two sisters: Ellen Gardner and Vertner Riggins; one daughter, Brenda M. Lewis; two sons: Ray P. Lewis and Alfred Lewis, Jr.

She was an active member of Prince of Peace Church until her health began to fail. She leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted husband of 69 years, Alfred Lewis Sr., one devoted daughter, Verdell Lewis, four sons: Nathaniel (Diane) Lewis Sr., of Detroit, MI; Dr. Omowale Akintunde of Omaha, NE; Ray (Miriam) Lewis, Sr. of Roswell, GA; Eric Lewis of Mobile, AL; one close friend, Francis Cox; 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:oopm with Rev. George Burden, S.S.J. Celebrant. Interment will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 454 Charleston St. Mobile, Alabama 36603. ARRANGEMENTS BY CHRISTIAN BENEVOLENT FUNERAL HOME 201 N HAMILTON ST. MOBILE, AL 36603.
