A news article from the Utica Semi-Weekly Herald, dated Sept. 21, 1897:
"Morrisville. Sept. 20.--Orvilliers Coman of Eaton Center was found lying in the road about one-fourth of a mile north of the Center on Saturday afternoon by Mrs. Fred LeLand. Mrs. LeLand, with almost superhuman strength, succedded in carrying Mr. Coman, who is a very large man, to the roadside, where she left him and went to summon help. Several men who were in the Hollingsworth hop yard near by came to her assistance. Sacks of hops were placed upon a 'go-devil' and Mr. Coman was carried to his home. Dr. F. D. Babcock was summonded, who succedded in restoring Mr. Coman to consciousness. He had sustained a shock of paralysis. Mr. Coman is 86 years of age and Dr. Babcock thinks there is no hope for his recovery."
