"Well Known Pleasant View Man Dead.

Elam Althouse, a former landlord of the Lexington Hotel, died suddenly of apoplexy at his home Tuesday. He complained of feeling ill, and laid down and was found dead about 4 p. m. He was 54 years of age and for many years was a baker at Pleasant View. His wife survives. Also two brothers, Oliver, of Lancaster; Andrew, of Lititz; and three sisters, Mrs. John Vogle, of Witmer; Mrs. Ida Symington, of Lancaster; Mrs. Addie Bachman, of Lititz. Funeral services will be held at his late home on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment in the Moravian cemetery, Lititz."

"Elam Althouse - Elam P. Althouse, landlord of the Lexington Hotel, died suddenly of heart disease on Tuesday evening. He had been working in the field with his horses, but came in about 2 o'clock as he was not feeling well. He went to bed and his bother-in-law found him dead at about 5 o'clock. His age was 54 years, 5 months, and 27 days. He carried on in the baking business at Pleasant View for many years, but for a number of years was the landlord of the Lexington Hotel.
The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon, with services at the house at 2 o'clock, and interment in the Moravian Cemetery at Lititz."

My records say that this is Elam P. Althouse, born 1866 at Eden, PA, near Lancaster. He died June 7, 1921 and is buried in the 1918 section of the Lititz Moravian Cemetery, Section B, lot 54. He was married to Filena K. "Lily" (Firestone) Miller. They had no children. He worked as a baker and was owner of the Lexington Hotel.
