OBITUARY: "The Calhoun Times", Calhoun, GA, April 28, 1971.
Mrs. R.F. Acree Sr., prominent matron of 211 Chandler Street, passed away Saturday, April 24, at 8:30 p.m. following an extended illness. Mrs. Acree was born in Gordon County, Sept. 9, 1878, daughter of the late A.H. and Martha Strain. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Calhoun and was the widow of the late R.F. Acree Sr., who preceded her in death in 1957.
Mrs. Acree is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jewel Barton of Atlanta and Mrs. W.R. Paxton of Canon City, Colo.; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Judson Terrell of Adairsville; two sons, Maurice Nabers of Macon and J.P. Nabers of Dunwoody. She was preceded in death only 20 days ago by a son, Robert Acree. One sister Mrs. Mamie Sparks, 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Acree Sr. were held Monday at 2 p.m. from the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Rembert Moore and the Rev. John Bledsoe officiating. Nephews served as pallbearers.
Burial was in Fain Cemetery
