Born a twin with brother Earl, she moved with her parents to a farm near Potwin, Kansas by 1900. By 1905 the family moved again to Fairmount Township, Butler County, Kansas where she met her husband to be, Cleve, who lived on a nearby farm. In the early 1950's she and Cleve moved to California to be nearer her only child.
She was proud of her high school graduation, keeping her diploma and graduation announcement from Whitewater High School, Kansas for her entire life.
