Maude Frost Carlson, 94, Pierre, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1982 at St. Mary's Hospital, Pierre, SD. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Spet. 11, at the First Church of Christ-Christian, Pierre. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Pierre.

Maude Althea Wayman was born May 24, 1888 in Phelps, Minnesota to James and Emeline (Morton) Wayman. She grew up in Fergus Falls, MN and moved to Columbia, SD at a young age. She married Orva Cecil Frost, September 16, 1912, in Aberdeen, and to this union seven children were born. They moved to Pierre in 1916. Maude worked for a number of year at the Roberts Laundrey as well as for Dr. Bowen, DDS, and also did washing, ironing, and sewing.

On February 20, 1964 she married Alfred Carlson in Pierre.

She was a member of the Royal Neighbors, Pierre Senior Citizens, and the Church of Christ where she was very active.

She is survived by one son, Wilfred Frost, Custer; two daughters, Mrs. Elenora Carroll and Bonnie Baade both of Pierre; sister-in-law Estella Marie Frost of Pierre; 28 grandchildren; two sisters, Sarah Dawson and Alice Claypool, both of Waverly, NY.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Orva C. Frost in 1959, and husband Alfred Carlson in 1969, twin sons, Howard and Harold, and son Wallace "Jack", four sisters, two brothers, two grandsons, and one granddaughter.
