The Sharon, Mercer County, Pennsylvania native, was a United States Air Force Veteran, a former member of the American Legion, a retired Grounds and Heating Plant Boiler man at Western Kentucky University for 27 years, and a graduate of Sharpsville High School, Sharpsville, Pennsylvania.
He was the son of the late Fredrick (Fred) Herman Pears and Maude Loretta Custer Pears.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elsie Louise Eadens Pears. Three brothers, Robert, Richard and Donald Pears; two sisters, Mildred Chapman and Marian Brandenstein.
Survivors include his two sons, Martin Glenn Pears and his wife, Pamela J., of Mount Hermon and Kevin Allen Pears and his wife, Donna K., of Owensboro; a daughter, Frieda Kathleen Turner and her husband, David A., of Bowling Green; two brothers-in-law, Paul F. Brandenstein of Mercer, Pennsylvania. Doil O. Eadens and his wife, LaVerne, of Rockfield; three sisters-in-law, G. May Spikberg and A. Remona Eadens, both of Rockfield, and T. Nell Keith and her husband, Richard, of Bowling Green; a sister-in-law, Barbara Eadens of Bowling Green; six grandchildren, Brian C. Pears, Bradley A. Turner, Audrey A. Turner, Alissa B. Pears, Korey A. Pears and Chloe M. Pears; two great grandchildren Aiden Constant and Owen Pears, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral is at 11:00 AM Tuesday at J.C. Kirby and Son Funeral Home, Lovers Lane Chapel, with burial in Bowling Green Gardens. Visitation is from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
