HARVEY A. SHAKESPEARE
Harvey A. Shakespeare, 58, of 319 Yost Avenue, Spring City, veteran Justice of the Peace and former president of the Chester County Fire Police Association, died of a heart attack tuesday evening while a passenger on a Paoli local of the Pennsylvania Railroad.
Shakespeare, who was employed as a baggage claim clerk with the Pennsylvania Railroad Company in the Philadelphia office for nearly 38 years, had attended a banquet for railroad employees. He was stricken while the train was passing through suburban Philadelphia and removed to the Lankenau hospital where he was pronounced dead of a heart attack.
Born in Spring City where he resided his entire life, he was a son of the late Harry and Mary Shakespeare. He attended the Spring City High School.
Mr. Shakespeare was active in Boy Scout work in Chester County and assisted in preparing Camp Horseshoe, Rising Sun, Md, when it opened in 1927. He was formerly a Scoutmaster of a Spring City Troop for more than a quarter century.
During World War I he served in the U.S. Merchant Marine.
Treasurer of the Chester County Fireman's Association, Mr. Shakespeare was a former captain of the Spring City Fire Police; a member of the Liberty Fire Co. and the ringing Hall Fire Co., Pottstown, R.D.
He was also a member of Vincent Lodge, NO. 762, IOOF, and the First Evangelical and Reformed Church of Spring City.
He is survived by his widow, Hannah (Thompson) Shakespeare; one son, William, a member of the U.S. Air Force; two daughters, Doris, wife of harry Nichol, at home, and Betty, wife of Charles S. Moses, Pottstown, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock from the Nelson Funeral Home, 331 New Street, Spring City. Interment will follow at Zion's Cemetery. The Rev. John Henry Sando, Pastor of the Spring City Evangelical and Reformed Church will officiate.

Yesterday afternoon a pretty wedding took place in the Lutheran Church, Royersford, Miss Hannah Mae Thompson, of Royersford, daughter of Mrs. Helma Thompson, being wedded to Harvey Ash Shakespeare, of Spring City, by Rev. J.F. Kramlich. The ring ceremony was used and was witnessed by a large number of relatives and friends. They wer attended by Miss Esther Edmark, of Royersford, and Paul Cook, Spring City. The married couple left after a reception for Niagra Falls and other places, and will return to reside in Spring City.
