My Great-Grandmother Vic had passed on to her reward before I was born, but I was given her name to honor her. She was loved and greatly respected by her children and grandchildren.

MRS. DEARING DIES AT HOSPITAL

Funeral Services At Naked Creek Church Thursday

Mrs. Victoria Baker Dearing, 72, wife of William Dearing and well known resident of the Elkton section, died yesterday morning at two o'clock at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, following an illness of several weeks.

Mrs. Dearing was born in Page County on June 20, 1870, and was the daughter of the late Lewis and Betty Baker. She was a charter member of the Naked Creek Baptist Church.

Besides her husband, she is survived by seven children, Eugene F. Dearing of Winchester; Terry Dearing of Sykesville, Md; Mrs. Dorvel Lewis of Vienna; Agnes Dearing, Otis Dearing, Mrs. Theodore Morris and Mrs. Charles Slye, all from Elkton; twenty-seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, one sister and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at two o'clock from the Naked Creek Baptist Church. Services will be conducted by Rev. George Shivers. Burial will be in Elk Run Cemetery.
