MUSCATINE, Iowa - Edwin N. 'Eddie' Hayes, 84, of Muscatine, died Wednesday, December 6, 2006, at home.
Funeral Service will be at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Ralph Jeambey will officiate the service. Casket bearers will be Ed Longstreth, Lance Longstreth, Dave Hartman, Lyle Krueger, Neil Bartelt and Bill Kepke. Honorary Bearers will be LeAnn Crose and Lyndsey El Bahi. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Eddie was born on November 18, 1922, in Muscatine, the son of Charles and Florence Reeves Hayes. He married Edith M. Pace Longstreth on October 10, 1960, in Raton, New Mexico.

He was a veteran of the US Army serving during World War II in the European Theater.
He was a truck driver for Roadway all of his life.
He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Teamsters, and the American Legion Post 27.
Eddie enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and gardening. He especially loved his grandkids.

Survivors include his wife, Edith M. 'Edee' Hayes of Muscatine; two sons, Gary L. Longstreth of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Ed. I. Longstreth and wife, Karla, of Muscatine; seven grandchildren, LeAnn, Kelly, Kim, Greg, Lance, Jason, and Lyndsey; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Lloyd W. Hayes and one sister, Mary Cutler.
