Atlanta. Marion Thaxton Brooks died Saturday, October 24, 2009. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, October 26, 2009, at Forsyth City Cemetery. The Reverend Darwin Caldwell will officiate. The family will greet friends at 2 p.m., Monday, October 26, 2009, one hour prior to the services at Monroe County Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Brooks, the son of the late Tom Brooks and Lizzie Mae Collins Brooks, was born February 22, 1916, in Monroe County. He was retired from Wilson Packing Company and was a veteran of the United States Navy.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Brooks of Atlanta, children, Becki Porzio of California, Patricia Channell of Augusta and Betty Brannan of McDonough, four grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
