He enlisted at Camden during War of 1812 at age 19 for 5 years, and served 10/6/1814 - 12/15/1815, being discharged there as a minor. He was a Pvt in the Light Dragoons of the US Regt Co A, Artillery Unit. He received a pension for his service as his discharge was considered 'honorable'.
He lived in Wateree area of Kershaw Co, and stated his Post Office was Ridgeway, but his domicile was in Kershaw Co. His widow Sarah was added to the pension rolls in 5/1879 after his death on 7/11/1878.
It is noted that his tombstone has the wrong year of death.
