Mattie Edith Ashburn, 85, of Oak Ridge died on July 9, 2004 at the Methodist Medical Center.

Born in Rickman, TN on November 7, 1918 to parents Carson C. and Lona Neeley Phillips. Mrs. Ashburn came to Oak Ridge in 1954 from Detroit, MI. A member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church and Order of Eastern Star #390. Among her hobbies she enjoyed sewing, quilting, and crocheting.

Preceded in death by brothers, Talmadge Phillips and Joe Thomas Phillips

Funeral service will be held in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary on Monday evening, 8 PM with Rev. Vernon Sansom officiating. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, 10 AM at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family requests that memorials be made in the form of donations to First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 127 Lafayette Drive, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 – 8 PM at Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge.
