Zoe Chidlaw Painter, the 17-year-old daughter of Alan and Deborah Painter of San Juan Bautista, died Sunday as the result of an auto accident on Highway 152 west of Gilroy.
A graduate of Gilroy High School, Painter also attended Rucker School in Gilroy and Battle Abbey School in East Sussex, England, for three years. She was most recently enrolled at Gavilan College. While at Gilroy High, Painter was active on the speech team.
A native of Berkeley, she had lived in San Juan for about a year.
In addition to her parents, Painter is survived by a brother, Alan Moss Painter of San Juan Bautista; sister Ardath Painter of San Juan; grandparents Patricia Brown of Seal Beach, Michael Brown of Berkeley and Edith Painter of Oxford, England; uncles Mike Brown of Boulder Creek and Matthew Brown of Soquel; and aunt Sarah Petre of Altadena
A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Black-Cooper-Sander Funeral Home in Hollister. The Rev. Alexander Patience of St. John's Chapel Episcopal Church in Del Monte will officiate.
Burial will be at San Juan District Cemetery.
