It becomes our painful duty to announce the death of Dr. A. A. Allen which occured at is home Monday evening, Jan. 18th, of pneumonia, after a brief illness. The deceased was an old resident in this community, where he was universally respected for the many good traits of character that he displayed in his dealings with neighbors and fellowmen. The deceased leaves a wife and three sons and a host of friends to mourn his death.

Dr. Albert A. Allen was born in Seneca county, N.Y., Aug. 16, 1824 and when young his parents moved to Ohio, and later to Wisconsin. He studied medicine at Whitewater, Wis., and begun to practice in 1849. He came to Kansas in June 1859 and located on a farm in Allen county, six miles south-east of this place and continued his practice in connection with farming. In 1886 he moved to Ottawa and in 1889 he moved to Kincade. He joined the Baptist church at the age of 18 and has been a constant worker ever since.
