Owner and operator of downtown St. Louis landmark Miss Hulling's Cafeteria for 65 years. At one time, there were five restaurants in the St. Louis area. The flagship restaurant was located in a four-story building located at 11th and Locust. "Miss Hulling's Favorite Recipes," the first of several cookbooks written by Mrs. Apted, was published in 1969.

Additional information provided by Topeka Tom: Probably born in Mascoupin, St Clair Co, Illinois, the daughter of Nicholas Hulling and Louise Parentin based on her being the informant for her probable sister, Magdalen Hulling, and on other brothers and sisters who lived in or near St Louis.
