Corporal James Roy Knight was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army Selective Service and a Draftee, CPL Knight served our country until December 2nd, 1968 in Quang Tri, South Vietnam. He was 20 years old and was not married. It was reported that James died from small arms fire. His body was recovered. James was born on November 25th, 1948 in Beulahtown, Johnston County, NC. CPL Knight is on panel 37W, line 022 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for less than a year.

Death of a Minister: James was a dedicated Christian and minister. I had just got back from Viet Nam to find that James was home on leave and had received orders for Viet Nam. I assured him that I had come home safe and that God would do the same for him. That was the last conversation we had. I often wonder what Great Thing He could have done. He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Bronze Star Medal, The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal.
