Miriam C. Atkins
Age 75, died Thursday, November 12, 2009 at home after a brief illness.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1934 and raised in Wilmington, Mimi graduated from Wilmington Friends School in 1952 and then from Bradford College. For many years Mimi worked as The Director of Membership for the Brandywine YMCA until her retirement in 1996.
She is survived by her son Andy Atkins and his wife Jane, Ginny Altieri, and her husband Ed, and Jamie Atkins, and his wife Christina; all of whom reside in Chadds Ford, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Anna Altieri, Bobbie and Blair Atkins and Ryan Atkins as well as her brother Earl H. Cone and his wife, Vivian, of Salem, Massachusetts.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday November 19, 2009 at Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church, 10 Old Kennett Road, Wilmington, Delaware. Burial will follow in Lower Brandywine Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Rd., Wilm, DE 19810 or Wilmington Friends School, 101 School Rd., Wilm, DE 19803.
