Phyllis Anne Elliott Applegate, 74, of Richmond, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend went home to be with the Lord very suddenly after a short illness on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Pattie A. Clay Hospital with family at her side.
She was born July 7, 1935 in Pittsburgh PA. She was the daughter of Virginia and Claude Elliott. She was a 1954 graduate of Trinity High School where she was a majorette. She was a registered nurse, graduating from the Washington School of Nursing in 1957. She worked at Washington Hospital, St. Claire Memorial Hospital, and John J. Kane Hospital. After her husband was transferred to Richmond KY in 1977, she was employed by Pattie A. Clay Hospital. She was a member of the Community Christian Church of Richmond. On March 30, 1957, she married her sweetheart, George W. Applegate of Washington, PA. They were blessed with 52 years of marriage, three children, seven grandchildren, and one great granddaughter. Surviving are her loving husband, George W. Applegate, a son, George C. Applegate, father to Ashley and Collin, who is currently serving in Iraq and married to Felicia, parents of their only great granddaughter Abigail; a daughter, Linda McMaine, mother to Brittney, Dylan and Mallori; and a daughter Laura Applegate, mother to Ciana and Aaron.

Friends will be received from to 4 – 9 p.m. on Tuesday at Community Christian Church at 230 Boggs Lane in Richmond KY. The time of service is Wednesday, November 11th at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Harry Hebert officiating. Phyllis will be laid to rest at Camp Nelson in Nicholasville, KY.
