A family statement reads: "The joy of her life was her family. She devoted her life to caring for her family and anyone who was lucky enough to spend time with her."
Doris is survived by two sons and two daughters, Harry Carter, Lloyd Carter, Marlene Hilburgh and Jane Holschuh; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and sisters, Nancy Weir of Washingtonville and Helen Crist of Campbell Hall.
She was predeceased by one grandchild, Dean Carter Jones and four brothers and one sister: Donald VanSickle, Kenneth VanSickle, Alan VanSickle, Hilton VanSickle and Betty Tuthill.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving compassionate care that their mother received during her stay at Valley View and request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Doris's name to the Valley View Nursing Facility, Quarry Road, Goshen, NY 10924.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
