Leonard was born in Warm Springs California to Julio and Felicia Gonsalves on December 27th 1923. He had two older half sisters Laura and Evelyn Marks. Growing up being the only boy he had to do a lot to help his father with the farming. He did farming for others too.

On September 3rd, 1949 he married Josephine Wagner. They had four children. Joan Elizabeth, Constance Lucille, Leonard Adrian Jr. and David Anthony.

He did odd jobs until he became a truck driver. He drove for many trucking companies. He also had his own for a while with a friend called G&H Trucking. He was a volunteer fireman at the Warm Springs fire department for many years.

Moving to Tracy in 1970 he worked as a custodian for Banta School. Devoiced his wife of 22 years in 1972. Later Leonard started Valley Radiator Shop with his son David.

In 1978 married Eva Castro. She had three daughters from a previous marriage. Linda, Debra and Tonette. Then he was a parishioner of St. Bernard's Catholic Church. He also joined the Elks Lodge, Tracy Wildlife Association, and Good Sam Campers Club.

He retired 1986 from the radiator shop. He worked with wood making rocking chairs and different items. He loved camping and playing cards with friends.

He enjoyed his ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
