Obituary from the Tupelo Journal, Nov. 11, 2009: WALNUT - Jane Ellen Shackelford Bell, 68, died Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. She was a retired teacher with 29 years of service and a member of Tiplersville Church of Christ. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at McBride Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley with Minister Mike Eaton and Minister Garry Martin officiating. Burial will be in Rucker Cemetery in Ripley. Survivors include her husband, Archie Lane "Buddy" Bell Jr. of Walnut; one daughter, Lisa Meeks (Danny) of Tiplersville; one son, Lane Bell (Lynn) of Chalybeate; two sisters, Carol Hurt and Wanda S. Yancey, both of Ripley; five grandchildren, Susan Elizabeth "Libby" Meeks and Landon Tucker Meeks, both of Tiplersville, and Alayna Leigh Bell, Laurie Lynn Bell and Larson Bryce Bell, all of Chalybeate. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Mitchell and Beatrice May Shackelford. Pallbearers will be Gerald Beibers, Joe Larry Shackelford, Teddy May, Tim Bell, James Bell, David Yancey, Allen Yancey, Kelly Hurt, David Pickens, Edward Reed and Adron Hodum. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Meeks, Larson Bell, Landon Meeks, Donnie Greene, Randy Miskelly and Connie Alberson. Visitation will continue from 7 a.m. to service time today at the funeral home.
