Mary Jessie Currence Broom is the daughter of James Laban Currence (1854-1885) and Clara Lee Wright Currence (1857-1948). She married James Washington Broom (1874-1955) abt 1897. They have four children:
1. Carl Albert Broom (1898-1960) m. Thelma Z. Kirby (1902-1993)
2. Bessie Irene Broom (1900-1977) m. Tim Weston Haulbrook, Sr. (1897-1974)
3. Edgar McDonald Broom (1910-1978) m. Blanche Lawson (1910-1989 )
4. Clara Marguerite Broom (1914-1993) m. Joseph Eugene King, Sr. (1908-1984)

BROOM--Mrs. J. W., of 796 Wilson Rd., NW, died May 12, 1955. Surviving are her husband; daughters, Mrs. T. W. Haulbrook, Mrs. J. E. King; sons, Mr. C. A. Broom, Daytona Beach; Mrs. E. M. Broom; sister, Mrs. F. D. Mayes; brothers, Mr. A. J. Currence, Rome; Mr. T. J. Currence, Morrow, Ga.; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 14, at 3 o'clock at Spring Hill, Rev. William L. Selman officiating. Interment, Crest Lawn.
