Mrs. Chris Harned, 86, of 311 Dearborn Ave., died at 12:20 a.m. Thursday at the Woodlawn Convalescent home of complications incident to advanced age. She had been an invalid for many years and had been a patient at the convalescent home for the past month.
She was born Sarah Belle Sherwood in Marion County, Iowa, on Nov. 10, 1869, the daughter of the late Frank and Louisa Roebuck Sherwood. On Feb. 23, 1890, she was married to Chris Harned in Marion County. He died in 1916 (should be 1915). Mrs. Harned was of the Methodist faith. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Mary I. Bingaman, 311 Dearborn Ave.; Mrs. Blanche Montieth and Mrs. Allie Gullion, both of Huxton, Colo. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother. Funeral services will be conducted at the Kearns-Dykeman Chapel at 2 p. m. Friday by the Rev. John R. Kirby, pastor of Linden Methodist Church. Burial will be near Columbia, Ia., on Saturday.
