The family sojourned to Michigan from Ohio and then on to Painted Post, NE by "prairie schooner", living in a dugout soddy for some years with their fiver children before building a proper home.
In the end, Electa was deaf and smoked a pipe! Apparently, she wasted no time in returning from Painted Post, NE to civilization, departing NE within the week after Daniel's death.
