Mr. Charles L. "Beetle" Bailey, age 74 of Fayetteville passed away July 28, 2009.

He was born in Hapeville to the late Charles Parker and Juanita Kimbrough Bailey and was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Alline Bailey, and a brother, Joel Clifford Bailey.

He served his country in the United States Navy and was stationed at Lake Hearst, NJ, where he was a flight engineer and flew in blimps. He retired after 33 years with Delta Airlines, was an avid Georgia Bulldog's fan, and enjoyed umpiring baseball and football. He was a loving and devoted grandfather to Whitney and Cole and enjoyed spending time with them at Lake Altoona.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Virginia Bailey of Fayetteville; son, Kyle (Wendi) Bailey of McDonough; grandchildren, Whitney and Cole Bailey; sister, Jackie (Ben) Watson of Milledgeville; brother, William Bailey of Alabama.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 11 AM from the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Rev. Mike Creaseman, Mr. Lance Simonds, and Mr. Tim McBrayer will officiate. Interment will follow at College Park Cemetery at 1:30 PM. Friends may visit the family Friday evening from 6–8 PM at the funeral home.
