Funeral services for Neola S. Axmear, 86, were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 5, at Powell Funeral Home, North English. The Rev. Larry Ricgel, North English, officiated. Music was provided by organist Mrs. L.J. Powell, Keota, and soloist Mrs. Randy Wade, North English.
Casket bearers included Ronald Holmes, Bettendorf; Roy McCracken, Brighton. Lloyd McCracken, Richland; Jeremy, Kenneth and Paul McCracken, all Riverside. Interment was in the Sorden Cemetery near Keswick.
Mrs. Axmear died Thursday, March 2, 1989 at St. Luke's Hospital, Davenport. She had been a resident of the Fejervary Nursing Home, Davenport, for the last ten years.
Neola C. Axmear was born Sept. 1, 1902, in Richland, the daughter of U.W. and Mary Gillette Lyon. She grew up in Richland where she graduated from high school. She lived in Ottumwa and in the Keswick community before marrying Harlan M. Axmear. They lived in Ottumwa where she worked at Younkers 17 years.
Mrs. Axmear was a member of the Trinity Church of the Nazarene, Ottumwa.
Her husband preceded her in death following a car accident in Nebraska in November 1954.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and nine brothers and sisters.
She is survived by a son, Willard L. Holmes, Bettendorf; three grandchildren and four grandchildren; two sisters, Mabel McCracken, Richland, and Bea Baldock, Escondido, Calif., and a brother, Frederick Lyon, Mercedes, Texas.
