Anna Cole Daniel was born to Lewis Houston Cole and Louisa Elizabeth Balch in Puncheon, Giles County, TN. She married first, Clarence Reed Campbell, and second, William Daniel.

Family lore has it that she was actually named Hannah when born, after father Lewis' grandmother, but that she didn't like the name, and wanted to be called Anna instead.

Her two husbands are buried next to each other in Prospect Cemetery, while she is buried next to her sister Beulah in Maplewood Cemetery.

For future generations who may read this, I'm compelled to write more about Aunt Anna, be it complimentary or not.

Aunt Anna was a very feisty and opinionated woman. She apparently had a penchant for talking poorly about people and could be very hurtful. She also carried great influence over her younger sister Pearl, much to the dismay of Pearl's husband (my grandfather). After a lengthy visit from Anna one time, Grandpa told my Aunt Peggy, "If I ever leave your grandmother, it will be because of that woman!" My Aunt Mildred remembers her speaking negatively of my grandfather's people and calling his home of Prospect, "Lick Skillet." Ironically, she would eventually live there herself.
