Homer Booth

Homer L. Booth, Sr., 89, formerly of Greene County, died at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, 1988, at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville.

Born in Calhoun County, he was the son of the late John and Louisa (Bruns) Booth.

On Dec. 21, 1918, he married the former Florence Blackstone in Elsberry, Mo. She died Dec. 2, 1985.

Surviving are a daughter, Bertha Funk of Jerseyville; two sons, Harold Booth of Wood River and Homer Booth, Jr. of Eldred; 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mandy Freesmeyer of Waverly and Sophia Jones of Nebo.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Gerald and Lowell Booth; two brothers, Roscoe and Chester Booth; and a sister, Lucy Goewey.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30 at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton with Rev. Bill Baughman officiating. Burial was in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Eldred.

Memorials may be given to the American Lung Association.
