From The Nashville Gazette, 24 Sep. 1824:
Died
At her residence near Nashville, on the 16th ins. Mrs. Rachael Donelson, consort of William Donalson, Esq.
In the death of this amiable and beloved woman society in the neighborhood of which she resided, are bereaved of one of its brightest ornaments the poor are deprived of one of their most munificent benefactress’s; her affectionate husband and numerous connexion are left to deplore an irretrievable loss; but with the consolation, that previous to her dissolution, she had a firm hope in the future salvation of her soul.
"The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away, blessed be the name of the Lord."
