John R. Bicknell Jr., of Columbus died at 9:25 a.m. Saturday October 31, 2009 at the Medicalodge Nursing Home in Columbus.
He was born November 20, 1948 in Columbus, Kan., the son of John (Jack) R. Sr. and Mattie (Merrick) Bicknell.
John was raised in Marysville, Kan. and lived in Las Vegas, Wichita, Texas and Ft. Scott.
He graduated college with a degree in accounting.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam Era serving his country in the United States Navy for eight years traveling to many areas including Africa.
John married Judith A. Robertson on May 25, 2001 in Columbus, she survives at the home.
He was a Truck Driver working for various companies over his 20 years of service.
Additional survivors include a son Joel Bicknell and wife Regina of Tulsa, Okla.; a daughter, Dawn Reiser and husband Teddy of Topeka; three step-daughters, Janet Ellison and husband D.G. of Columbus, Jacqueline Litle and husband Steve of Adrian, Mo., Julie Edwards and husband Rob of Grove, Okla.; a sister, Ann Hulett of Albuquerque, N.M.; two brothers, James Bicknell and wife Denise of Kansas City, Philip Gribble and wife Billie of Columbus; four grandchildren, Oliva, Delaney, Jillian Bicknell and Isabelle Reiser.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
According to his wishes John has been taken for cremation, no services are planned at this time.
