Well-Known Pioneer Passes Away At Home
Settled Boise Valley in 1865 and Resided Here Ever Since--Heart Trouble the Cause.
Thomas Gess, who had for more than 40 years lived in Ada county, died at his home, corner of Fourteenth and Eastman streets, at 10 o'clock last night, death resulting from a lingering illness which had been diagnosed as heart trouble. The deceased was born in 1841 and came to Idaho in 1865, when he settled in the Boise Valley, where he had almost continuously made his residence. He was in the early days prominent in the councils of the Democratic party and was elected and served as county assessor.
The deceased leave a wife and two children, a son and a daughter, William Gess of New Plymouth and Mrs. James Stephenson, Jr of this city.
