Theodore D. Berry, "Ted", 1926-2001, was born in Livermore on July 12, 1926, the son of Lewis C. and Erma Norton Berry. he was a 1944 graduate of Livermore Falls High School and attended the University of Maine, Orono. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps., and later served in the U.S. Air Force as a radar operator during the Korean War.
On July 19, 1953 he married the former Pearl May Dyer in Bridgewater, Mass. He worked for Carter Milling in Farmington before he became a partner in the family apple business known as Berry Hill Orchards for 30 years. In 1972 he became owner and operator of the Ted Berry Co. in Livermore where he was a dealer for FMC and John Bean Fire Trucks.
Following his retirement in 1988, he an his wife enjoyed their winters at the Colony Cove Retirement Park in New Port Richey FL, where they resided for the past 12 years. He was the founder of the Afternoon Safety Club of the Colony Cove Safety Committee. He had been an active member of the Livermore Fire Department and also served as fire chief for many years. He was a member of the International Order of Fire Chiefs, a life member of the V.F.W., Frank L. Mitchell Post 3335 of Jay, the Bass Anglers Sprtsman's Society, & the Maine Masonic Lodge 20 of Farmington.
He was also a member of the Maple Lane Golf Course in Livermore. He was a Civil Defense Director for the Town of Livermore and a member of the Boy Scout "Order of the Arrows". He was also a member of the North Livermore Baptist Church. He was always very active in his community and a devoted husband, father and grandfather. he will be sadly missed by all that knew him.
