Mrs. Catharine Schneider was born July 3, 1825 in Germany . At the age

of 16 years she emigrated to this country. After residing in Cincinnati , Ohio , for about one year, she came to Jackson county, and has lived in this county ever since.

On August 2, 1844 , she was united in marriage to Gerh. H. Schneider, who preceded her to the grave nearly ten years ago.

Their matrimony was blessed with four sons and seven daughters, of whom one son and five daughters died before their mother, leaving three sons and two daughters to mourn her departure.

From the days of her infancy Mrs. Schneider always has been a faithful member of the Lutheran church, regular attendant of the church services, living an upright christian life.

To he husband she was a helpmate in the full sense of the word, and to her children a kind and loving mother.

She died October 7th, of dysentery of about two weeks illness at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 4 days, and was buried on Sunday in the old grave yard of St. Pauls Lutheran church at Wegan. Rev. F. Meyr officiating.
