22 Nov 2008: Eleanor E. Wion, 91, of Bellefonte, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at the Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte. Born on July 9, 1917, in Bellefonte, she is the daughter of the late Willis E. Wion and Bertha E. Breon Wion. Eleanor was a 1935 graduate of the Bellefonte Area High School. She worked for the Centre County Cooperative Agricultural Extension Office for more than 40 years, much of that time as office manager. Eleanor was a lifetime member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bellefonte. She was very active in the church and served as treasurer and on the Administrative Board for many years. She is survived by one brother, Donald A. Wion, of Mechanicsburg; two nieces, Ann H. Wion, of Derwood, Md. and Susan J. Bartram, of McClain, Va.; three nephews, Philip K. Wion, of Pittsburgh, David A. Wion, of Harrisburg, and Douglas A. Wion, of State College; and also by 10 great-nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Eleanor is preceded in death by two brothers, Philip W. Wion and Harold A. Wion and his children, Lucille Wion, Barbara Clark and Richard Wion. There will be a public visitation held Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, from 9 to 11 a.m., the time of the service, at the Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte. Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor Sue Goetz officiating, with the Rev. Thomas Osif assisting. Burial will follow at the Union Cemetery in Bellefonte. [Centre Daily]
