Doyle Burgess, 61, of Route 5 Huntsville, (Wharton community) was dead on arrival at the Madison County hospital Monday morning. Death was attributed to a heart attack.
Mr. Burgess was born in this county Sept. 2, 1903, the son of Green Burgess and Matilda Casey Burgess.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Florence Steele Burgess, of the home; three sons, Doyle Green Burgess Jr. of Ontario, Calif.; Carroll A. Burgess of Ontario; and Jerry D. Burgess of Route 5, Huntsville; one daughter, Mrs. Maxine Mitchell of Midwest City, Okla.; one brother. Oval Burgess of Wichita, Kans.; four sisters, Mrs. Donna Burkes of Route 5, Huntsville; Mrs. Annis Hillard of Seminole, Okla; Mrs. Jane Miller and Mrs. Sarah Bolinger, both of Huntsville; and ten grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with Rev. Vivan Rhodes of Springdale, conducting. Burial was the Wharton Creek cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral home.
