Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 2, 2009, at West Main Baptist Church, Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Eavenson, 81, died Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Artesia Good Samaritan Center.

Mrs. Eavenson was born May 7, 1928 in Hominy, Oklahoma; the daughter of Clarence Youtsey and Celia (Sheppard) Youtsey.

She was a lifetime resident of Artesia.

On Nov. 19, 1943 she was married to Leroy Mathews in Carlsbad, N.M. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1984.

On April 12, 1985 she was married to Jack Eavenson in Artesia. He preceded her in death June 1, 1994.

She was a cook for local restaurants. She was a member of First Baptist Church, and active at the Artesia Senior Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Milton Youtsey and a sister Colita Gladfelter.

Survivors include son Richard Mathews of Bernalillo, N.M.; brother Dwight Youtsey of Artesia; sisters Norma Terrell of Batesville, Arkansas, and Linda Mitchell of Lufkin, Texas; 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
