Russell P. Knotts, 57, of Springfield, Ohio, died August 29 at his home a fter a two year illness.
Born in Calhoun county, he was a son of Mrs. Lillie M. Knotts of Stumptown and the late Robert J. Knotts. He served as deputy sheriff of Calhoun county from 1931 to 1933. During World War II he served with the 790th Railroad Engineer Battalion in Iran, He retired in February, 1968, from Wright Patterson Air Base, Dayton, Ohio, where he was employed as an engineer.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Eva Collins Knotts of Springrield, Ohio; a son, William B. Knotts, of Springfield; two daughters, Mrs. James (Alberta) Gilmore of Springfield and Mrs. Gary (Nina) Bukky of Painsville, Ohio; three brothers, Robert J. Knotts, Jr., of Cleveland, Walter A. and Henry E. Knotts of Massillon; three sisters, Mrs. Ruby L. Strimple of W arren, Ohio, Mrs. Dallas W. (Daisy) Stump of Grantsville, and Mrs. Alfred H. (Pansy) Baker of Sand Ridge.
He was preceeded in death by his father, and one brother, William B. Knotts.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 31, at the Littleton funeral home in Springfield with Dr. Skully officiating. Interment was in Ferncliff cemetery at Springfield.
