WEBSTER CITY - Albert F. Henning Jr., 75, of Webster City, died Friday, October 23, 2009 at the Lake City Medical Center in Lake City, Minnesota, following his courageous battle with lung cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. Travis Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Foster Funeral & Cremation Center and after 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church.

Albert Frederick Henning, Jr. was born on August 5, 1934 in Evanston, IL. The son of Albert Frederick Henning, Sr. and Julia Henning (Witt). He was raised on a farm near Waverly, IA. and attended parochial grade school in Waverly and West Waterloo High School graduating in 1951. Al received a Bachelors Degree from the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) in 1955, majoring in Accounting and Economics. He married Beverly Barber at Waterloo in 1958. Al held a variety of positions teaching High School Business; Sales and Accounting positions and was Controller for Arrow Acme in Webster City 1974-1999. He married Janet Knutson in 1988 in Webster City, IA.

Al is survived by his wife, Jan Henning of Webster City; daughter, Annette (Paul) Darling of Mesa, AZ; three sons, Gary (Sue) of Arlington, TX; Todd (Jennifer) of Blythwood SC; Steve (Heidi) of Des Moines, IA; sisters, Marilyn Chapin of Dickenson, TX; Carol Estes of Conway, AR; brother, Dave Henning of Austin, TX; step children, Kraig (Susan) Knutson of Mesa, AZ; Karen (Mike) Beck of Gilbert, AZ; Keith Knutson of Chandler, AZ; Karla (Brian) Knutson of Chandler, AZ; mother-in-law, Edna Humphreys of Fort Dodge, IA; six grandchildren, fourteen step grandchildren and 4 great step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Beverly and several brothers-in-law. Al was a member of 4H, FFA, Waterloo Jaycees, Chairman of Immanuel Lutheran Church Young Couples Club in Waterloo, youth football referee, Cub Scout Pack leader, Little League baseball coach for ten years, Past President of W.C. Lions Club (and 30 year member), and recipient of the Lions Club, Warren Coleman Award. He was also a Republican Precinct Committeeman, long time member of St. Paul Lutheran church in W.C. and served as Chairman, Treasurer, Head Usher, choir member, where he worked on many committees and projects. Al enjoyed ballroom dancing, golfing, fishing, playing cards and volunteering at the local grade school.
