Funeral services for Mrs. Fredonia Lanning, 81, were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Phillips and Luckey Chapel with burial at I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Rev. Walt Sewards officiated.
Mrs. Lanning died Sunday morning in Richards Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She had been a lifelong resident of Rockdale.
She was born Dec. 25, 1897 in Milan County to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hairston. She taught school for over 30 years before her retirement. She and Jim Lanning were married in 1925.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Lanning of Rockdale and one half brother, Joseph Hairston of Rockdale.
Pall bearers were George Reed, W.H. Crump, Jr., W.P. Hogan, L.C. Mehaffey, S.P. Peebles Jr., and T.A. Weems.
Honorary pall bearers were Dr. John Richards, Fritz W. Koch,, W.L. Howel, J.M. Moorman, E.L. Laurence, G.I. Caffey, H.G. Simpson, Andy Milano, P.H. Perry, Dr. L.E. Selden, Dr. F.M.
