Suggested edit: Caroline Marie Petersen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Svendsen, was born in Horring, Denmark, in 1864.
She received her early schooling in Denmark and was baptized and confirmed in the Danish Lutheran Church at Horring, Denmark.
She came to the United States in the year 1884 and first settled in the state of Illinois where she resided for 21 years and 5 months. From there she moved to the state of Nebraska where she has since made her home for 33 years. In the year of 1882 she married Mr. Klemmen Petersen.
Those that are left to mourn her passing are her husband, Mr. Klemmen Petersen of Hardy; her daughters Mrs. Soren Nelson, Mrs. Einar Martens of Hardy; Mrs. Mads Andersen of Superior; and Mrs. Sorensons, Thomas of Hardy; Albert of Petaluma, California; and Martin of Ruskin, Nebraska; her sister, Mrs. L. F. Stoltz of Maustono, Wisconsin; 21 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. One son, Otto, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Petersen was a kind and loving mother, devoted to her family and children. She brought them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. She was patient at all times, and would rather do a work or bear a burden, than place that burden on anyone else. Her loss to her loved ones cannot be replaced. Her children rise up and call her blessed.
She passed away quietly in the Lord at Superior, Nebraska, June 29, 1938, at 3:40 p.m. Her age was 74 years, 1 month, and 4 days.
Funeral services were held at the Andersen home and at the Lutheran Church in Hardy, Nebraska.
Interment at Ruskin, Nebraska.
The quartet, Mr. Gillilan, Mr. H. M. Davidson, Mrs. Leigh, and Mrs. Pearl Cramer, rendered beautiful and appropriate song service at the church.
Pallbearers were: Mads Andersen, Soren Nelson, Einar Martens, A.W. Andersen, Martin Petersen, and Thomas Petersen.
