Julia was married on January 10, 1912, to Christian Sommer Andersen. They lived in the Ruskin vacinity most of their married life. Two sons were born to this union: Clinton S. At the time of Julia's husband's death on June 1, 1942, she was a patient in the state hospital in Hastings, Nebraska.

Sarah Julia, daughter of George and Mary Gilliland, was born in Hamilton, Illinois, on April 3, 1885, and passed away at the hospital in Hastings, April 6, 1943, at the age of 58 years and three days.
While an infant the family moved to Hayes City, Kansas, where they lived until 1891, when they moved to Davenport, Nebr. Here she attended grade and high school, graduating with the class of 1903. Following her graduation, she taught school for six years. In June, 1910, she took a homestead near Willard, Colorado, proving up on it fourteen months later. During her stay in Colorado she taught school for a term and a half.
On January 10, 1912, she was married to Chris S. Andersen of Ruskin. To this union a son Clinton Smith was born who died in infancy and Ray of Hebron. Afer marriage she resided in different locations in Nuckolls county (sic) and in September, 1939, the family moved to Ruskin, where she remained until entering the hospital.
At an early age she united with the Presbyterian church (sic). She was quite talented artistically and poetically and always took an active part in Sunday school and Woman's Club.
Her husband, her parents, one brother and one sister preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing, her son Ray who is in the Army, three brothers, Elwood of Sterling, Colorado; Sam of Denver, Colorado, and Roe of Georgia, beside other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon from the Community Church, conducted by Rev. J.H. Petersen of the Bethany Church, and interment in the Ruskin cemetery.
