United Methodist Church in Clinton where he sang in the choir. He was a
member of Clinton Lions Club. He served on Great Smoky Mountains Council of
Boy Scouts of America where he received The Silver Beaver Award. He was also
an Amateur Radio Operator with call leters W4HBZ. He was an Osteopathic
Physician for 46 years. He was preceded in death by parents, Joseph A. and
Alice Mabel Dayton Bechtol and granddaughter, Carole Rene Armstrong.
Survivors: wife, Martha Edna McCue Bechtol of Clinton; sons and
daughters-in-law, Charles Paul and Gracie Bechtol of San Antonio, Texas, Dan
M. and Mary Bechtol of Heiskell; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Chuck
Tindell of Knoxville; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers,
Robert Bechtol of Ocala, Fla. and Joseph Bechtol of Vass, NC; sister, Marian
Schmitt of Willoughby, Ohio. Funeral services 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 1,
1999 at Holley Gamble Chapel with Rev. Warren Wattenbarger officiating.
Interment 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 2 at McCarty Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in
Claxton.
