Daughter of John and Mary Allen Greenlee. Wife of Asahel Mann. Mother of Wm, Granville, Archibald, Mary Jane (Alsworth), Hiram, John, James, Abner, Asahel Jr., Susan Elizabeth (Bishop).
Elizabeth Greenlee was born in Monroe County, Virginia in 1803
Her father, John Greenlee, died before 1815, leaving Elizabeth a child of about 12 years. She married Asahel Mann in December 1825. Her brother, Abner Greenlee was the bondsman on their Marriage license. Asahel and Ellizabeth moved to Lawrence County, Ohio in 1829, bringing their 3 sons, and while they were in Ohio, a daughter was born. In a couple of years they moved to Hendricks County, Indiana, where six more children were added to their family. Elizabeth's mother, Mary Allen Greenlee, also moved to Indiana and lived with her son, Abner Greenlee until her death. After twenty years Asahel and Elizabeth moved to Fremont County, Iowa where Asahel farmed and they had many guests in their home. Four of her sons were in the Civil War: William, John, and Asahel Jr. Son, John died in the war. Granville was in the Border Brigade. They also helped raise three grand daughters,after their daughter, Mary Jane, died at an early age. Elizabeth was preceded in death by three of her sons, Granville, Hiram, John, and a daughter, Mary Jane.
