CANTON — Mary C. Medford Thompson, 87, of Dutch Cove Road, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Cephus Eldridge and Mary Walls Medford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Thompson, who died Sept. 28, 2009. She was a member of Dutch Cove Baptist Church and an avid reader.
She is survived by a brother, Lewin Medford of Canton; a brother-in-law, Bill Thompson and his wife, Jane of Canton; and several special nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Love officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
