Obituary:
Louis Emil Leopold Haack, 89, well known resident of the Johnson community passed away Tuesday, August 8, following a paralytic stroke, which he suffered early that morning while in the act of dressing himself.

He was born the son of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Haack, May 24, 1855 in Beregen, Brandenburg, Germany. June 2, 1855 he was baptized. September 16, 1870 and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Liebenau.

He spent his early youth at home in Germany. In the early 1880's he was united in marriage to Sophia Gundelach of Neustadt. Soon after the marriage the young couple came to the United States to make their home. They located in Nemaha county. To this union there were born two daughters. After a few years of happy wedded life in this country, Mrs. Haack and an infant daughter passed away, leaving the father and a two-year old daughter. The two sought a home with Mr. and Mrs. E. Wohlers of Johnson.

On May 30, 1886 Mr. Haack was united in marriage to Emma Bebensee of Hamburg, Germany. Rev. C. Deubler performed the marriage rites. This union was blessed with seven children.

Mr. and Mrs. Haack celebrated their gold wedding anniversary in 1936.

For a short time the family resided on a farm near Brownville. After that they moved back to the Johnson vicinity and have resided there since. The family has lived on the same farm for the past fifty years.

For the past 35 years the family has been affiliated with the Martin Luther congregation.

Mrs. Haack passed away June 28, 1938 and since her death Mr. Haack has made his home with his children, although the greater portion of the time has been spent with his daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Schneider
