DOROTHY JEAN BLEVINS, nee Horton, 76,
of Phoenix, Arizona,
born February 4, 1933, in East St. Louis, Illinois,
died Monday, August 3, 2009 in Phoenix, Arizona.
Mrs. Blevins was a respiratory therapist and worked at Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO and Queens Hospital, Honolulu, HI, before she retired.
She was preceded in death by:
her husband, Ruben Richard Blevins, Jr.;
a daughter, Mary Catherine Blevins; and
her parents, Gerold and Hazel, nee Harrison, Horton.
Surviving are:
children,
Richard (Bev) Blevins, III of Sauget, IL,
Gerold Blevins and James Blevins,
both of Little Rock, AR;
Sharon Perez of Phoenix, AZ, and
Wesley (Pamela) Blevins of Sauget, IL;
two sisters,
Geraldine "Geri" Zeimetz and
Barbara (Keith, Sr.) Howard, both of Cahokia, IL;
nine grandchildren and two great grandsons;
she was a dear siter-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend.
At Mrs. Blevins request, her body was cremated. A Memorial Service was held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, August 16, 2009, at Braun Colonial Funeral Home, Cahokia, Illinois with Gordon Jantz officiating.
A private burial will be held at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois at a later date.
