Born in PA. Blackhawk War Veteran(1832) Sgt. J.Mayo Company, 2nd Brigade, 1st Illinois Volunteers. Enlisted Edgar Co. IL. Emigrated to Penn. Twp. near N. Liberty,Iowa 1840. One of 1st settlers. Had first school in his cabin. Died 1876. Age 76.
