He was born Feb. 19, 1936, in Sundown. He lived in Hockley County and Muleshoe before moving to Levelland in 1981. While in Muleshoe, he was active in the Jaycees and Toastmasters. He served as chairman of the Air Force Board for the Chamber of Commerce. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He married Nancy Ann Bryant on Nov. 19, 1960, in Denver City. He was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church. He owned and operated K-Bar Texas Electric until his retirement in 1997.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Billy Joe and Donny U., both of Levelland; a brother, Gene of Sundown; six sisters, Irene Carter of Sundown, Val Smith of Hobbs, N.M., Imogene Deaton of Denver City, Florene Henderson of Levelland, Willa Mae Henderson of Comanche, Okla., and Mary Nell Russell of Chickasha, Okla.; and five grandchildren.
